JT’s best track from 20/20, “Tunnel Vision”

I have to agree with a number of critics in saying that Tunnel Vision is the best track from Justin Timberlake’s 20/20 Experience.

The song didn’t particularly stick with me on first listen a couple of months ago. After spending some time with the album on Spotify last night, I really found this to be my favorite track for a number of reasons.

1. Justin Timberlake + Timbaland is magic. See “My Love” or “Cry Me A River”. They really work together well and occasionally they make a brilliant track. This one here beats out Suit and Tie by a sizable margin for me.
2. The beat on Tunnel Vision is CLASSIC Timbaland. Famous drums, ad-libbing, all classic and reminiscent of his work with Aaliyah. This track takes me BACK in a refreshing way. Timbaland at his best is on display on Tunnel Vision.
3. Justin’s delivery is very nice. The verses are casual. The build up to the hook and the hook itself are catchy and memorable.
4. Speaking of catchy and memorable, the lyrics are also unique and well written.

To me, this song is the sleeper hit of the album. Suit and Tie was a smart choice for a first single from the album, mainly because of its uptempo beat and its featuring of Jay-Z. However I can see this being released as a 3rd or 4th single with an awesome music video with Timbaland. I hope it comes! Have a listen if you haven’t already.

A big step forward.

Today I dropped by the Shoreline financial aid office and officially cancelled my aid package for the 2013-2014 school year. I have decided to fully pursue my Master’s program at the University of Washington for the upcoming school year. I am enrolling in the UW Information School’s Master of Science in Information Management program. I will be specializing in information security/assurance and systems design.

This decision was not easy for me for a number of reasons. Ultimately, I feel this Master’s program will be a better fit for my future and where I want to be. I’ve been receiving a great amount of support from friends and family.

I think this is a big step forward for myself personally and professionally. This program will act as a method for improving my academic credentials, improving job opportunities and working as a career change, all in one. I am excited and anxious to begin this Fall quarter and will be back in full-time study mode, hopefully with internship opportunities during the school year.

Thanks for reading.
